萬向聯(lián)軸器采用十字軸承聯(lián)接兩端聯(lián)接法蘭，可以傳遞完全不在同一軸線的扭矩，對角向的補償可達25?以上，采用花鍵聯(lián)接可以大距離地補償軸向位移。萬向軸承載能力高，傳動效率優(yōu)異，在現(xiàn)代工業(yè)領域被廣泛采用。

SWP十字萬向聯(lián)軸器采用剖分式叉頭布局，與SWC十字萬向聯(lián)軸器使用的場合相近，主要運用在重載大型裝備領域，回轉(zhuǎn)直徑可達1200mm。

SWC十字萬向聯(lián)軸器采用整體式叉頭布局，主要用于軋鋼機械，起重運輸機械等其他重型裝備領域，回轉(zhuǎn)直徑可到1600mm，扭矩傳遞距離可達30m以上，是運用相當廣泛的萬向聯(lián)軸器。

萬向節(jié)聯(lián)軸器的不同軸可能是徑向位移，傾斜或兩者兼而有之。測量同軸度應在十字軸萬向聯(lián)軸器端面和圓周上均勻分布的四個位置進行。十字軸式萬向聯(lián)軸器聯(lián)接的機泵在安裝過程中都不可避免地要進行同軸度的調(diào)整，使對輪既同心又平行，否則將影響機泵使用效率或造成設備運行事故。

靠背輪聯(lián)軸器用來將不同機構中的主動軸和從動軸牢固地聯(lián)接起來一同旋轉(zhuǎn)，并傳遞運動和扭矩的機械部件。有時也用以聯(lián)接軸與其他零件（如齒輪、帶輪等）。

靠背輪常由兩半合成，分別用鍵或緊配合等聯(lián)接，緊固在兩軸端，再通過某種方式將兩半聯(lián)接起來。

靠背輪聯(lián)軸器可兼有補償兩軸之間由于制造安裝不精確、工作時的變形或熱膨脹等原因所發(fā)生的偏移（包括軸向偏移、徑向偏移、角偏移或綜合偏移）；以及緩和沖擊、吸振。
